Murasum Oliyum

Recently I was reading FORTUNE magazine which has Martha Stewart on its cover. The cover story was about successful women.

For whom, who doesn't know who is Martha Stewart, she is the first self-made women enterprenur in US who owns OMNI Living Media, which publishes magazines, TV shows, radio shows and a range of house hold products marketed through K.MART.

I never thought you can make money in these forms too. Martha hosts Cooking Show in NBC/ABC I guess. Her company pays rent to the house which appears in that show. In fact the show is produced by Omni media itself. It's a great business model. And they know to keep business separate from their private. Normally when it's our own house, we will think of saving the rental cost. But this one is paid which actually makes business sense as the OMNI media has got its stake(share) holders.

Still wondering, how Murasu and Oli is relevant in this?

Look at the recent acquisitions and the launch of new paper by by SUN Network. SUN bought Dinakaran and launced a tabloid Tamil Murasu which was only a Chennai evening edition in the first month. Later it was published in 9 districts. This paper is completely under control of SUN Network.

There is one more paper MURASOLI owned by the DMK party which is also published as an evening edition. For the past two weeks, Murasoli is also available from 9 other districts. MURASOLI is actually an subscribed paper usually subscribed by their party members and in public library when DMK is in power.

This is where I see the Martha connection. May be Murasoli carries where they print the paper! and How much they pay to print?
